The pros are you can function as if you have a colon and have a normal life.  The cons are for awhile afterwards you will have many BMs a day which will subside with time and diet.  A stomach virus will hit you harder, and sometimes you may need to go to the ER for rehydration if you are both vomiting and have diarrhea. You need to keep yourself well hydrated when exercising especially in the heat, but we should all do this anyway. Other than this, your life will be normal.  My son has had his J-Pouch since he was 12, he is a marathoner, ultrathoner. mountain biker, avid hiker and competes in jujitzu.  He eats pretty much anything he wants and only has 2 BM's a day, and is happily married.  He says it's all about attitude, and he is proof of that! Hope this helps!  Take care.

Colorectal cancer is a disease in which cells in the colon or rectum become abnormal and divide without control, forming a mass or tumor

Physically active people may have other advantages that lower their colon cancer risk. And colon cancer can still strike active people; many factors affect cancer risk.
