rectal bleeding

by lei_, Aug 09, 2009 12:39PM
Cancer runs in my family,my aunt passed away of pancreatic cancer recently, and I had a tumor before, and polyps run in my family big time.  So i'm a little concerned, and I used to abuse colon cleansers and laxatives due to my struggle with bullimia and in the past anorexia.  It was bright red in my stool, and it happened once that I noticed, but when i went to the docter i found out that there is still bleeding occuring.  I also have been going through dizzy spells and getting black marks throughout my skin, I thought maybe iron deficiency because i'm a vegetarian, but the tests came back normal.  I've been dizzy alot latley and don't go out in the sun alot, so when I go see the gastro-specialist, and my regular physician this week are there questions I should ask, or what do you suppose might be the cause?

Amongst other tests I would imagine that a colonoscopy is essential.  Type in rectal bleeding to google/yahoo and I suggest logging on to the Medicinenet site to find out more possible causes etc.  Then you can work through each one when you visit a specialist - I suggest a specialist since his/her knowledge will be deeper than your normal doctor.
