Amongst other tests I would imagine that a colonoscopy is essential. Type in rectal bleeding to google/yahoo and I suggest logging on to the Medicinenet site to find out more possible causes etc. Then you can work through each one when you visit a specialist - I suggest a specialist since his/her knowledge will be deeper than your normal doctor.
