rectum cancer

my uncle had a rectum cancer,he is 34 years and the doctor said that the cancer goes into the lymph fluids and after that he call to us and tell us that he cannot do any thing.we all feel very sad and the doctor tell us for the chemotheraphy.actually i want to ask is there any hope for survive for him,please help me
