red blood in stool

I had hemorid surgery 4 years ago.  I have not had any pain since then, but I am now having a lot of bright red blood in my stool.  should I be worried?

Any rectal bleeding should be promptly investigated.  Although you may have undergone haemorrhoid surgery four years ago, this would not rule out any of the other causes of rectal bleeding.  For possible causes type in rectal bleeding to google and look up one of the many informative sites.  The Medicinenet site is quite comprehensive.
