I have severe DDD in L4-L5 & L5-S1 with bone spurs, herniated discs, etc. I have been on narcotics for 2 years. I am now off - but my back is still bad - with acupuncture help??

If there is compression of the sciatic nerve, pain will persist. You need a "3T" MRI, not a "1T". And you might require surgery.
