Oregano oil isn't particular good for flu or other viruses -- it's more of an antifungal, with some antibacterial action. If you did want to take natural remedies, remember, there's no cure for the flu or the common cold, just things that might shorten the duration of it and make it less intense. A good immune system booster can help, and there are many good ones at a good health food store. The strongest anti-virals in the natural world are olive leaf and elderberry extract. There are almost no anti-virals in the world of pharmaceuticals, and the ones that exist are for very serious and specific types of viruses. There is one for influenza, but because of side effects it usually isn't used unless there are complications, as I understand it. Cold medication doesn't fight cold or flu, it's really just antihistamines, sleep aids, alcohol, and painkillers, and some antihistamines can be very stimulating, others are very sedating.
Hello, as an alternative medicine for cough and colds, I always use Oil of Oregano capsules I take it twice a day though they said to use it 3x a day. Its better to take it with food to avoid stomach upset.
I find it safer and more effective than over the counter meds. Very effective anti virus, anti bacteria. It only takes a few days to get over a cold. I use the capsule kind, they also come as liquid drops but has pretty strong taste. Most colds medicine have pseudo ephedrine and it could affect the heart rhythm.
People who have irregular heart rhythm like yours could benefit from supplementation of Mg Taurate. Magnesium Esp. for the heart. It relaxes the blood vessels and the cardiac muscles to prevent erratic heart beats. Ask you MD if its OK to add it on with your meds.
Take care.
