What is EPO?

I have asked if anyone knows any alternative treatments or drugs, whatever, for immunodeficiency disease, besides blood transfusions,or Hizentra, a blood product. Today someone mentioned EPO, or ethro pointant. Don't know of correct spelling. Also, chlorophil, again spelling? Has anyone heard of these? Any info would be greatly appreciated, as I'm running out of time and can no longer overcome lung  infections with antibiotics. Thanks in advance

Thank You for the information. I will see a doctor tomorrow to see if my new diet has increased the hemoglobins or not. Thanks Again.  Cindy

Oh, and I should mention there are also herbs that might help strengthen the lungs as well.  Of course, with a problem as chronic as yours, you will need expert help from teaming your doctors with, perhaps, a naturopath or practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine or ayurveda or something like that if allopathic medicine is failing you.

There are two EPOs, I think.  The natural one is Evening Primrose Oil.  It is relatively high in GLA, a beneficial omega 3 fatty acid.  It also affects female hormones, and is usually used by women for that reason.  But there is also a blood oxygenation treatment  also called EPO, and is often used, illegally, by athletes to improve performance (see Lance Armstrong).  Legally, it is used to help people weakened by illness and injury to recover more quickly by speeding oxygen from red blood cells into the body.  This is a drug, not a natural treatment.  Chlorophyll is basically plant blood -- this is what plants make from the sun through photosynthesis to exist.  The greener the plant, the more chlorophyll content, with algae such as spirulina and chlorella being the highest plant sources.  You can also buy chlorophyll by itself isolated from plants.  In humans, the body recognizes chlorophyll as hemoglobin, due to their nearly identical chemical structures, which can help oxygenate the blood cells.  As for building up your immune system, if you have an auto-immune disease you don't want to build your immune system -- it is working against itself, so you want to tamp it down.  If you're immune deficiency is due to something other than an auto-immune disease, there are many many ways to try to build an immune system, including what exercise you can handle, meditations such as the one mentioned above, proper rest, only eating food very high in nutrients and skipping those that are hard on the system such as white flour, sugar, and the usual culprits -- the best foods here are probably the green leafy vegetables and algae and cultured foods.  There are also a great many herbs that can aid a weakened immune system, but again, if it's an auto-immune problem, these will make the problem worse.

This pranayam will build up your immune system and improve your lung function. The extra oxygen going into the blood, will make the cells healthy. The kapalbhati will stimulate the liver and kidneys(to regulate blood cell production), as the stomach contracts. When you can do these breathing techniques for more than 15 minutes, twice a day, you will start to notice the benefits.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Kapalbhati pranayam -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.
Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.
