dizziness

I was in a car accident in March 2010. I didnt suffer from anything major (or so I thought) except soreness in the neck, headache. Since then I have have headaches and on/off dizziness. I have been going to physio since and have just started acupuncture. The first trreatment was so super amazing I dont remember feeling headache free and that good in a long time. The relief lasted 2-3 days. I have had 2 more treatments since then that were "ok" not as good as the first but w some relief. I then had a treatment 4 days ago and have felt awful ever since. Very dizzy, off balance and out of sorts. I was so dizzy 2 days ago most of the day was spent in the washroom nausea. Is it normal for this feeling to last this long? I did feel out of sorts after each session for about 45mins but not this time. I also have an MRI appt in 2 days.

This drug could raise blood clot risk by 32%
They're pretty new, and they're mostly used for psychiatric diseases.

But in the relatively short time they've been around (since the 1990s), doctors have been finding more and more applications for these drugs -- including nausea, vomiting, and vertigo.

Which only casts the net of risk that much wider.

I'm talking about atypical antipsychotics like Seroquel, Abilify, Solian, Lonasen and Risperdal. Recent research out of the UK, soon to be published in the British Medical Journal, shows that these drugs could raise the risk of serious blood clots called venous thromboembolisms.

Researchers looked at records for 25,532 people over a wide range of ages -- 16 to 100 -- who developed deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism between 1996 and 2007, and what they found is pretty darn frightening.

Comparing those records to those of 89,491 people who didn't develop either condtition, they found that those who took the drugs in the two years before developing a blood clot had a 32 percent increased risk of the condition.

And get this -- the risk was almost double in the first three months on the drugs. People taking low-potency versions of the drugs -- which you might assume to be safer -- were in fact at higher risk, too.

The highest risk -- nearly four times that for people not taking the drugs -- was seen in people taking Seroquel.

Considering that deep vein thrombosis can lead to death if the clot breaks off and ends up in the lungs, this is pretty scary news.

It's hard for some people to break the impulse to drug every condition they come across. But this is just one more bit of evidence that we need to look for safe, natural alternative treatments before writing prescriptions for problems like nausea and vomiting.

Thanks for the replies....I didnt have the MRI immediately after the accident because of my own stubborness of just wanting to get out of the car and get the hell away from the scene....I hope the MRI shows something that can easily be tended to so I can move on, at this point I am frustrated beyond belief.

you should also go to a  Neuroscience center and have them check about the dizzyness
within the inner ear lie collections of calcium crystals called otoconia. In patients with BPPV, they get dislodged from their usual position and float into the semicircular canals which usually function to sense rotatory motion of the head. These crystals disrupt the flow of liquid within the balance-detecting system and make the patient think they are rotating even when they are sitting still.

Vertigo therapy in this case concentrates on moving the head in a certain way in order to coax the offending floating crystals back to where they belong. Although traditionally this is done by a physiotherapist it can actually be done at home by oneself as shown in the following "vertigo cures" video clips.
Go to the following web address and watch the videos and learn the movement
I had this problem and it works takes a little time but if this is the problem caused by the accident this will work

Also symptom of concussion.  This one is for the docs, not the acupuncturist.  But I would continue with the acupuncture or chiropractic or massage after you see to these symptoms to make sure there is no long-term deterioration in the spinal column.  This happened to me, affecting my discs many years later.  Docs don't consider long-term problems from the impact and lingering inflammation, so that's where the alternative stuff can be very helpful, to keep the nutrients flowing.  But first things first.

Accupuncture works well for pain, but it doesn't acomplish anything for a subluxion injury, which is a typical injury in an auto accident.

Your should had an MRI immediately after the accident. One complication is the development of a slow bleed.  That is my concern when you discuss nausea. An MRI will not show this. You need a dye-contrast MRA.

Upon development of the nausea you should have gone to an emergency room. If you are having nausea now, that is my recommendation.
