How does Rolaids or tums help with the tingling sensations caused by taking topiramate?

Does it interfere with, or increase, the action of magnesium?  Calcium leaches out magnesium.  What I can say that using Tums or Rolaids for calcium, if that's what it's about, is not a good source, since you're mainly suppressing stomach acid, which shouldn't be done for very long.  If it's calcium you need for this, a better form of it should be found.  But nerves more often involve magnesium, which is in balance with calcium, so that might be an angle to pursue.  Many psychotropic drugs interfere with magnesium absorption, for some reason.
