Thank you for your input. Could you please give me the correct term when crowning involves a series of teeth next to one another? After 55 would it be a wiser alternative as apposed to separate individual crowns - bottom teeth (more crowns the more problems)?
Are you talking about having a bridge that they are all connected? You have to have certain conditions for this to be a better choice, but more than not, having individual crowns is much better, and creates less complications.
If I understand correctly, it was suggested to you to have a full coverage crown on your lower teeth, because of wear or recession of your gums. First of all, if it is a full coverage crown, it could weaken your tooth, unless they are adding on the back section, so a veneer or a 3/4 crown of some kind of a more conservative restoration might be better. If they are not going to correct your bite, and this needs to be evaluated and done for the whole mouth, I would not agree that it will prevent recession of the gums. Make sure that the dentist who does this is highly trained and is an expert. Here are two links that I think might be helpful to you,
