Glaze removed from crown with fitting

Glaze removed from crown with fitting

I've had alot of problems with getting fitted with a crown.  This is the second crown placed on this molar.  The first was drilled down to the metal and I had to ask to have it replaced.  This time I noticed after about 5 week gray speckles along the gumline and discoloration.  He told me the speckles were where the glaze was removed when he was fitting the crown.  It was not there before.  Can it be fixed? Should I just live with it?

If it is an esthetic issue have it removed. If the crown is properly sealed leave it. But since it is something that made you aware of and made you post your question on this forum, then it is bothering you....so I believe you want it to be perfect? Right?

Thank you for answering.  Is there anyway to take off the crown & reglaze it?  My dentist told me he has done all he can.  There is also a large gape behind the crowned molar that gets packed with food.  I expressed concern with decay or gum problems but he told me it probably won't be a problem as I've been taking good care of the crown.  Is it too much to ask to have  a crown without flaws? The color of the crown does not match my teeth.  I'm just very disappointed.

Sometimes you can remove a crown without damaging it and re-glaze it. But it is very rare. So to give you a simple answer have it re-done, insist on it. My other recommendation, find a new dentist, a choice you always can exercise!!!!
