Infection after extractions....

by MsManda76, May 29, 2009 06:36PM
Approximately 3 weeks ago, I had 21 teeth removed so that I could get dentures. The holes on the top are still wide open, and on this past tuesday, I noticed a pocket of puss inside the back tooth on the top. I was able to clean it up, and I have been gargling with warm salt water, but it has reappeared. I am also on antibiotics, but I am worried about the holes closing around this infection. Is this something that a doctor can treat? The dentist that did the extractions is, unfortunately, several hours away and I cannot take off of work to go to him.

How long should I give the antibiotics before I seek treatment, and can a regular Doctor treat this?

Thanks

# weeks is a long time. Not sure if an MD can do anything for you. You need to see a dentist again.
