Jaw sore after tooth extraction

by organman, Aug 29, 2009 10:27AM
Yes I had a tooth bottom tooth pulled 3 days ago, the cut looks ok, but its my jaw that
seems to be bothering me, Its really sore and hard to open up all the way without pain
Its comin from the area where they used the novacaine, Im using warm salt warter for the cut,
but for the jaw I used ice for the first 24 hours, someone toldme that for my jaw and swelling that
ice wouldnt work after 24 hours is this true. Another thing my Jaw still is a little swollen and its been 3 days now
should I continue to use ice to get swelling down?

IF it is at the injection site, the trismus could happen for many different reasons. visit your dentist and let them know of this, you are on the right path, many times this goes away on its own, but needs to be monitored closely, especially if you have had TMJ issues or if you have conditions that would make you prone to it.
