Onlay Sensitivity

by aussieroo182, Nov 05, 2009 05:22PM
I had a bad cavity that required an inlay/onlay (not sure the difference). I got this done a week ago, however I am experiencing sensitivity to my new inlay when I attempt to chew on that side (even soft foods). Is this an indication that I need a root canal or do I need to give more time for my tooth to adjust to the inlay?

if the pain is triggered by chewing activity only, it's probably associated with occlusal interference of new restoration. Going back to your dentist to have bite adjustment is advised. If he or she can not solve your problem, you may need to see an occlusionist or prosthodontist.
