Painful bumps on roof of mouth and small bump on tongue

There are a number of complicated dental and gum issues that I am experiencing. But the past 4-5 days I had to resort to a liquid diet since it is incredibly painful to eat solid food. I believe the pain is coming from the small red bump on my tongue and these colorless bumps on the roof of my mouth, that I discovered by stroking my tongue against it. When I apply pressure to the bumps with my tongue, I do not feel pain. My friend suggested that I might have burnt my mouth, but I don't recall ever burning it.

I'm not sure this is related but in the past week I have been experiencing hot flashes, and have a right enlarged lymph node. I do not have a sore throat. I also have two failed root canal of teeth that need to be totally extracted but have sat on it for over a year now, since I am a doctorate student and can't afford the extraction (particularly in Manhattan). I used to have an abcess (abscess) near these too two but I just recently noticed that it went away. The abcess (abscess) was there for about 6 month, possibly longer.

Should I see an oral surgeon or a dentist? What should I do in terms of eating for the time being? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
