Very tense, abrupt jaw pain...

by David772, May 19, 2009 09:13AM
I went to bed last night with a slightly aching jaw, which I had assumed was from a sensitive tooth 4rd to last in the bak right top of my mouth [Where I suspect I may have a cavity]. I woke up this morning, just a couple hours later, frantic, stressed and yelling. After I was conscious I realized what an incredible amount of pain I was in. The pain feels like it's above the last 3-4 teeth on the top, right side of my jaw. I also have never gotten my "wisdom teeth" removed, but the "wisdom tooth" on the top right side of my mouth has come in much more than any other and at least 45 degrees of an angle off of the rest of my teeth. I don't have dental insurance until sometime in July...what do I do for now, and if the problem persists? Is this just what "wisdom teeth" feel like?

This is one of those situations that you need to go in to see the dentist. To wait for insurance to allow you to see your dentist is not the wisest decision. You could end up with bigger problems and more complicated situations. So go ahead and find a good general dentists, someone that can diagnose the source of the problem. You might qualify for payment plans if you have a job or an OK credit even. The other issue is that the insurance companies may or may not cover certain conditions, preexisting conditions, or even certain procedures or materials.

David,
There is no way that anyone can tell you what to do without understanding the source of the problem. Unfortunately, there are many different things that can cause this and there is no way for anyone to diagnose the source of a problem on the internet, or based on what you are explaining. As a result, your only solution is to do see a dentist who can diagnose the problem.
I do understand your frustration, and that is why it is to your own best interest to do see a dentist as soon as possible, because this could be caused by many different things. Each one requiring a different solution.
