infection after extraction

by matrivani, Oct 30, 2009 04:36AM
I had a tooth extracted 2 weeks ago and developed dry socket and an infection. I have had a strong course of amoxiciliin and then cefelexin, however two weeks later and the site is still open and the gum very swollen. I cannot take metronidazole or erythromycin due to allergic reaction and am concerned as to what i can do next. Am having it dressed every other day by dentist.

you may need thorough debridement of socket and collagen plug insertion, and promary suture.Systemic administration of clindamycin with moderate to high dose may help better. Seeing an oral surgeon is advised.
