should the tooth go?

by klamb99, Jun 23, 2009 10:27AM
second molar from the back,  root canal & huge gold crown(only because all others cracked)  10 years ago.  For about a year now I have an extremely strong metal taste in my mouth eminating from this crowned tooth.  very bothersome.  Burning sensation even.  Twice, I have been to my dentist.  after xrays..he says he sees nothing wrong and suggested the metal taste was due to a medication I was taking.  He YELLED at me when I inquired about amalgam/ mercury issues.  He does'nt believe in mercury poisoning.  I also have an ongoing infection (ear or throat) for @ a year.  Sheould I have this crowned tooth removed?....and will my teeth shift if I do not have an implant to fill the hole?

I would get a second opinion from a highly trained dentist first. You might need to be evaluated for allergies, your TMJ might need to be evaluated, the crown might be faulty, the gums and the bone could be not doing well, etc. So there is much that needs to be thoroughly and comprehensively evaluated. I will give you a link for each of these to learn a little more, and please let us know if there is more information that you may need.

Now at times a metal taste may come from pressure on certain nerves in the mouth due to TMJ issues. You might want to find a dentist who has Neuromuscular Dentistry Training.
