33 years old, possible heart attack? Please help...

by Steph33829, Jan 27, 2009 06:22PM
I was on vacation last weekend and without any previous warning I felt preasure and and mild pain in the middle of my chest. It then began to spread to my shoulder areas and upper back.  Before this occured I had drank a strong drink on top of was carrying about a 5-6 pound tripod strapped to my back.  I soon sat down and within about 5 minutes the chest discomfort went away.  I had no shortness of breath and was very coherant and in noway dizzy. 5 days later I noticed that I have been having slight numbness and tingling in my right arm and fingers.  The numbness has been going on for the last three days.  Just today I am now noticing a numb sensation in the ball of my right foot.  I am 33 years old.  Did I have a heart attack?  I have had no chest pains since.  Is the arm and foot numbness associated with the chest pain I had days prior?

Hi,

To be able to know if a heart attack occurred, ECG and blood tests measuring the cardiac enzymes must be done. The chest pain may also be due to musculoskeletal causes as a result from the tripod on your back. The risk of heart attack increases with family history, presence of cardiac problems and with smoking and drinking.  Numbness in your feet and hands may be due to problems with your nerves.  It would help if you have the tests mentioned done to rule out heart related problems and be evaluated for your hand/foot numbness. Take care and regards.
