Confused about chest discomfort

Hi I am 29 yrs old, a little overweight and don't have the best diet when it comes to eating but in the process of changing that. I have been having left side mild off and on chest discomfort for about 2 days. It is barely noticeable but still noticeable enough. I also have a blood pressure checker machine at home which I have been using to monitor my blood pressure and it has been at healthy numbers. I do have Ashma and do smoke but have been cutting down lately, so I don't know if it is Ashma related or heart related. My sister who has Ashma says she also expiriences left side chest discomfort sometimes. I just would like a professional opinion does this sounds like something that could possibly be serious and heart related or what could it be? I am still able to function normal so I assume it is nothing serious but not sure.I seen a doctor about 2 yrs ago and my cholesterol at the time was healthy. I am confused and worried  and would appreciate some advice. Thanks and God Bless:)

Thanks, yeah I guess it was also an 'unconfirmed' report, so not sure what would make it 'confirmed', I think I was reading a real cardiologist doc. would have to determine that. It's good to know from the blood tests no enzymes that would def. show up for damage showed up. Can't seem to find out if that would rule out other problems. Maybe the weird gurgling around that stomach or chest/heart area am having somehow skewed it..but it was pretty consistent skewing/readouts for the two right after each other they did. Someone told me the doc's arn't supposed to say anything if you ask if it was alright or not so they don't get sued or something if you did end up having a prob. sometime, or for like excessive testing?Which is weird because the lady who called up with the good blood results said nothing/kinda stopped talking when I asked if should follow up or why the EKG could show up bad..almost like the phone cut out and had to say thanks/bye and end the call with no one on other end..maybe it did haha idk about that guess I should call and see if someone else/a real cardiologist could read it.I def. have a worse cough now and the sensatation has come back but more like gassy pressure and a good non-forced burp? relieves a bit. =bAlso laying on right side maybe seems to make pain less on left?I heard before that acid symptoms were maybe better laying on left though so can't really believe everything and could be something else/everyone's actually diff. I believe. Anyway I'm rambling on, but if anyone knows anything else about why an ECG could turn up abnormal and then they don't really think anything is wrong at all just since the findings show no heart attack let us know! Or good relief from this weird discomfort that had..though it is not quite as troubling now, that'd be great! Thanks!

I'm very sorry to hear about what you are going through, I know how you feel because when I first started expiriencing the chest discomfort it freaked me out and me already having anxiety issues only made matters worse. Now when I slept the discomfort would go away but then when I waked up it would come back. The chest discomfort was on the left side  chest area and it was not necessarily pain but just discomfort it is hard to describe but it was off and on for about 4 days and then it went away all together. I am now feeling good and normal, but do plan on making a appointment with  my doctor.  IT is definitly a good thing that you went to the hospital but if I were you and had gotten an abnormal EKG I would definitly see a doctor again to better understand the results and figure out what your next step should be. Anytime something comes back abnormal you always want to get as much information from the doctor about what could cause that kind of result. I will keep you in my prayers and hope that everything goes well for you at the doctors and you get the answers you need. You  should write down the questions you want to ask  the doctor and make sure you ask each and every one of them. Let the doctor know that this is stressing you out and you just want to make sure it is nothing serious so that you can have peace of mind. God Bless you and take care of yourself and keep us updated on the outcome.

Physical appearance could persuade the doctors into think you're better off than you are, but your numbers seem to back it up.

I have all kinds of things wrong with me, and my bloodwork shows it, my BP reflects, and the way I feel is definately letting me know about it.  I see several different doctors, for several different problems, such as renal failure, heart failure, etc.  My doctors always tell me that my numbers are awful, and they need to do something about it, but at the end of appointment they always say, "but you look good, so maybe you're doing better than we think"....and...they don't do anything to change my situation.  It's frustrating at the very least.

I have a question, this is maybe just a randomn intrusion on a thred but I was having sim. problems and had tightness laying up at night to finally got to sleep after couple hrs to awkaen again couple more..and am only 29, I went in day later and they gave me an ECG I believe..came back with 'contour abnormality consistant with anteroseptal myocardial damage' no lung prob in x-ray or congestion, but now I'm def. coming down with a cold ,sore throat, ears, which I'm taking as a good sign but still have pain they said could be inbetween rib thing/insignificant..is prob. getting worse actually but not as much or really any tightness or bloating? Also acid reflux pretty sure so now taking some prilosec...They had me do a blood test to see if i had a heart attack afterwards too. Clear on that. But can I really out rule/throw out the EKG results? They didn't schedule for a follow up or anything. Just said if did go to the ER to give 'em the paper. My hearts always running 70-90 bpm and everything else is normal/good on blood pressure, cholesterol, wieght, no smoking etc.Did test just at a couple stores and got blood pressure readings of hypertension or about a year ago or pre consistantly but whenever go to doc.s its very good 110/70. Always room for improvment in diet and excercise, seriously lacking aside from outside appearance. People mistake me for a 19 y/o..Could all this be diverting the docs from looking at a serious or even minor problem w/ heart. Follow up or more coherant testing advisable?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If you are having a chest pain that comes on and off then you must once get it investigated for heart attack or angina by a 12 lead EKG. Since you have diet problems it is quite possible that the pain you feel is due to acidity. Antacids and diet control will help relieve such a pain. However before you go for that get a 12 lead EKG done.
Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!

I'm not a doctor or professional of any kind, but I've been through a lot.

If you are afraid of your heart giving you pain, then the best action you can take is to have it checked to rule out possible heart attack, etc.

Please know that the first thing they will do is tell you to quit smoking and see if it helps.  I think if you went in with your arm dangling by a thread that they would ask you if you smoke...and if you do, then they wouldn't go any futher.  I've seen it happen many times.  Doctors, now days, are trained that a patient either does what they say, or they aren't obligated to help them.....I think they call it the "God Syndrome".....where they think they are Gods.

After you have been checked by a doctor, the next question would be:  Do you sleep on your left side at night?  If so, try switching to your right side, even if it means having to switch sides of the bed.  Sometimes, a person sleeps on one side every night, and ends up with painful shoulder or hip joints.....turning to the opposite side for several nights usually clears up that pain.  It's worth a try, since it's free to do.

In fact, I'm sitting here writing to you at 4:53 am. because I spent too many hours on my right side last night.
