Congenital Heart Disease

My daughter was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. She had an unroofed coronary sinus, AVSD with malaligned VSD, PDA, atrioventricular valve and PA banding.  She's 9months old and weighs only 4.5 kg.  What will be her chance if she'll undergo an operation now? Is this a rare type of congenital heart disease? What is the mortality rate for these cases? Thanks for whatever information you can give me.

Hi,
Congenital heart diseases affect development of fetus and this in turn will have long term effects on the growth of the baby. Surgery for correcting these defects and it’s outcome depends upon various factors like presence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia, post operative complications etc. In general, CHD patient’s require prolonged ICU and hospital stays. Hope this helps. Best.
