Congestive Heart Failure after use of coumadin

My relatively healthy father was diagnosed with atrial fibbrillation and was put on the drug coumadin.  He had two gastric bleeds within one month's time and during that suffered atheroembolic renal disease.  He is not on dialysis and his creatinine level is slowly improving but there is no saying if it has leveled out or not.  Since these incidents he has also developed congestive heart failure and has edema in his feet that will not go away (along with purple toe syndrom (syndrome)) His doctor has him on furosemide two times a day which seems to be helping but not getting rid of the edema completely.  What else could be done to rid the body of edema?  Also is there anything that can help kidneys that have been damaged by cholesterol embuli.  The doctors at the hospital fail to diagnose him correctly and said his kidneys were damaged due to the traumatic blood loss to his body but his cardiologist said yesterday after looking at the purple toes that he has all the signs of cutaneous cholesterol....

How many extra pounds of fluid is approximately left?  How many days has the process of taking off the fluid been?  What is his blood pressure? With congestive heart failure, the fluid must be removed slowly usually over a period of days.  Kidney dialysis is hard on the heart and body.  Kidney dialysis could drop the blood pressure down too far.  Once the blood pressure drops down too far, the liver starts failing.  The doctors told us also that the kidneys become damaged from the damaged red blood cells from traumatic blood loss and the blood given.  Edema of 30 pounds would be of concern.  Hope this helps.

his bp is normal,l he is on bp meds.  Not sure how much fluid is left.  If anything he has lost weight.  He was in the hospital for congestive heart failure due to too much fluid end of july, he was released from hospital first week of August.  His creatinine level last time blood was drawn was 3.2.  It was 5.1 in June so it is lower.  I don't think dialysis is the answer at this point if we don't even know what caused the renal failure or if it is acute or chronic.
