Could I have CHF

Hello Dr,
7 days ago I started having on/off fatigue, heart palpitations, minimal chest pain (more of a burn), shortness of breath just from walking. Symptoms persisted so I went to my doc yesterday. He ordered a stress test and put me on BP meds. This morning I almost passed out while driving down the highway. Went to the ER and told them of my symptoms from the past week. Performed Chest X-Ray, EKG, CBC/auto diff, CBC hemogram, CK Iso, CK total, Hold Blue, MIP, Magnisium, Metabolic Basic, and Tropinin 1. Doc said all tests game back in "great shape". They sent me home with a holter device and I have a stress test tomorrow. Shortly after leaving the ER I was so light headed I could not do anything for 15 minutes. I did have pressure on top of my shoulders but not the chest pain. It was so bad I almost went back to the ER. I'm resting at home now feeling ok. Still light headed when I get up and just do not feel close to 100%. I am 35 years old, overweight, High BP (now on meds), cholesterol test results have not come back.
Would hints of CHF show up on the tests I had today?
If not CHF what could be wrong with my heart?
Thank you in advance!!

Why do you find it odd i have had no health care?  I am an uninsured taxpaying American.  As you may recall from your training,  the er stabilizes and releases.  I was administered a chest X-ray and one tablet for blood pressure.  You did not answer my question!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and welcome to the forum.

Glad that you are seeking medical attention.  I think a Holter is a very reasonable test.  I would also purchase a blood pressure cuff and measure your BP when you feel very lightheaded...it is possible that your BP is a bit too low at certain times during the day related to the new medications.  Finally, depending on the test results, and echocardiogram that looks directly at heart function might be reasonable.  This, coupled with a good physical exam (and a blood test called a BNP) would likely determine whether there is any evidence of CHF.  And remember, shortness of breath is very nonspecific and can be caused by many things other than your heart (lungs, blood counts, overweight/deconditioning, etc etc).

Best of luck,

Dr. Rich
