Could this be CHF??

by hipperticker, Aug 17, 2009 04:27PM
I know y'all aren't doctors but if you're living with CHF then I figure you know as much about it as any doctor would, so I would appreciate your input on my symptoms, Thankyou in advance...

I was diagnosed with a heart arrythmia just 2 months ago, but now, some new a different symptoms have been happening. I use a foam wedge in bed when I sleep, because of my GERD. Yesterday I had no GERD at all, so I figured it would be alright to sleep without it. I sleep on my right side. When I woke up this morning, I noticed that my heart was racing, even before I got out of bed, I was extremely tired, drowsy, and dizzy. I also had a cough from hell. It felt like a tickle in my throat that just would'nt go away. It wasn't until I ate some oatmeal and drank my usual green tea, for breakfast that I started to feel better. I also had a feeling in my chest like I was catching a cold.

This has happened before, but not to this extreme. I've also noticed, through some research, that oatmeal and green tea are natural diuretics. I obcessively research my symptoms on the internet so I know what to ask my doctor about the next time I see him.

Anyone's opinion is appreciated...Thanks

I was diagnosed with CHF/Cardiomyopathy about 2 years ago.  The symptoms I had were:
A heaviness or pressure on my chest
coughing (also a pink, foamy "phlegm")
swelling in feet and legs
being out of breath (all the time)
dizziness
nausea/vomiting
exhaustion

You should get checked out, just in case.  When I had these symptoms, they didn't go away until I got on Lisinopril and a diuretic.  Later, Coreg was added to my meds and I feel much better now.  My ejection fracture was about 23%, now it is mre than 50%.
