EF dropping

I'm 68.had a massive heart attack 8 years ago. I have 3 stents. He put in a biventricular pacemaker about 15 months ago when my EF was 24%.My doctor says I am on the strongest meds he can give me. My last visit was 4 days ago and my EF had dropped to 19%... Doctor said there wasn't anything else he could do. Really?? Needless to say, it has left me frightened and very concerned. Are there more like me out there??

Join the crowd of concerned CHF 'ers. 64 yr. Male
I had mitral and tricusdpid repair 4.5 years ago. Great- rode bike 12 km a day and was doing great. Then noticed less than I Was able to do. EF has dropped to 25-30% from  50. Concerned and investigated Linus Pauling's vitamin c protocol. 2000mg a day and seeing some results. Still early, but feeling much better. Some say it has to do with reducing inflammation of coronary arteries. Lots of anecdotal stuff online.  You should check it out. In my case, mitral repair can expect a 10 year longevity. Doing what I can to improve my chances. Hope this helps

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, understand your anxiety. If medical therapy fails, cardiac transplantation is recommended for all eligible patients with an LVEF below 20%  regardless of clinical symptoms. It is difficult to predict the exact prognosis, as this depends on other co morbid conditions like diabetes and hypertension and the cause for the low ejection fraction values. Patients with heart failure have a 5-year mortality rate approaching 50 percent in some studies. Regards.
