Excercise with ascending aorta aneurysm

by Jim1965, Oct 17, 2009 09:20AM
I was recently diagnosed with a 4.2 cm ascending aortic aneurysm.  It was found during a chest X-Ray for an insurance policy.  I am scheduled for a follow up CT scan in six months.  I would like to resume playing basketball and light weight lifting but I want to know if this is advisable.  My cardiologist said basketball would be fine but stay away from any heavy lifting.  I would like a second opinion.

I am 44 years old.  6' 1" and 190lbs.  Resting heart rate is 60.  Average blood pressure is 110/72.  Family history would be a heart attack of my grandfather on my mother side.  He passed away at 52 and four of his brothers between 60 and 65.
