Heart Failure/ Coumadin and ICD

by Redhead99, Nov 04, 2009 03:06PM
After having a heart attack and some time has passed, (4 months) my doctor now tells me I need to have an ICD put in. I wore a heart  monitor for two weeks and received a call right away telling me this information. I am on several drugs, including Coumadin. Wouldn't I  need to have an echo done to determine my ejection fracture before making this decision? Also, would I be on Coumadin for life after having an ICD? Can I resume my life with two alcoholic drinks a day? What are the pros and cons of an ICD? I am 62 years of age and had a quadruple bypass, aeortic valve replacement and mitral valve repair.
