I was prescribed HCTZ for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy but I have very good blood pressure.

I was prescribed HCTZ for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy but I have very good blood pressure, and am not sure what good this drug does for me. I also have atrial fibrillatiion and am taking digoxin.

I don't like taking any drugs, but especially if I'm not sure they're helping me.
It's hard to tell if the HCTZ is helping because right before I started taking it, I cut down my
eight-year workout from 3 sets of 20 pound dumbells to 1 set of 15 pounds, and feel much better
because of that. I hadn't realized I was doing too much (I'm 74) because I wasn't forcing my self
as in the old "no pain / no gain" way.
