Mitral Valve Prolapse

by mia173, Nov 04, 2009 02:58PM
Hello, I have been diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse and also have hypertension.  How does one know if they have a backflow of blood.  I am fatigued, have irregular heartbeats, legs are stiff sometimes and my feet swells while I stand or sit.  Should I see a cardiologist.

Yes, you should see a cardiologist. The only way to tell if you have regurgitation is to have an echo-cardiogram....When were you diagnosed with mvp ? Did they do an echo then? If they did then the regurg would have shown up......If it was along time ago you should have another one..
