Treatment Options for Bilateral Cardiomyopathy

I recently was diagnosed with the above along with arryhmia and aortic and mitral valve insufficienc.  I have low pressure normally so my doctor prescribed 2.5mg of lisinopril.  After taking it for 5 nights I've started to experience dizziness when I get up during the night. I also wake up with a dry cough. Tuesday my blood pressure was 86/53.

Is there any other treatment for this "mild" case of cardiomyopthy other than blood pressure lowering medicine?

Hi,

You’ve to be a little cautious while drinking too much as excessive consumption of fluids actually puts more stress on the heart and we usually don’t advise too much fluid intake. A simple measure for patients who are suffering from congestive heart failure or mitral/aortic insufficiency is to intake water equal to their avg daily urine output + 500 ml.

I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind Regards.

Thank you for your suggestions. When I see my cardiologist in June I'll ask about digoxin.  The other day my internest said I should drink lots of water to stay well hydrated because of my low blood pressure. Any comments?

I really do appreciate your input.

Hi,

The doctor has rightly prescribed you lisinopril which plays an important role in cardiomyopathy in improving the functioning of the heart. I’ll also suggest the use digoxin for you which tend to improve the ejection fraction of heart and also improve the symptoms of congestive heart failure and it’s especially used for patients who have low blood pressure.
Apart from that, I’ll suggest a low intake of salt and water.

I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind Regards.
