Hi,

Congestive heart failure is a condition in which the heart can no longer pump enough blood to the rest of the body. Many organs do not receive enough oxygen and nutrients, which damages them and reduces their ability to function properly. This includes the kidneys.  Healthy kidneys produce a hormone called erythropoietin,  which stimulates the bone marrow to produce the proper number of red blood cells needed to carry oxygen to vital organs. Diseased kidneys or renal insufficiency often do not make enough erythropoietin which leads to low production of RBCs by the bone marrow. This is why anemia is common in people with kidney problems as well as congestive heart failure.

Take care and regards.
