can CHF be the final result?

I have had problems with my potassium level for the last 5 months, maybe more.  Eventually, i went to the emergency room only to find out that my potassium level was 2.6 and I was hypoglycemic. I was put on Klor -con for my potassium and told to come off the HCT.
{I was on diovan hct 320/25mg and hct 25 mg}

My primary took me off the HCT.
My question is: my endocrinologist took me off the diovan hct and didnt want me to have any diuretics.  However, he wanted me to have a renin and aldersterone test.  Which i have not taken yet.

Anyway, my body has been retaining fluid and I went to my primary yesterday and he wants me to see a cardiologist for congestive heart failure, low postassium and when can I go back on diuretics.

Is CHF really an issue in this case.  I'm really concerned.

Thank you for your help,

Terri

It sounds like you need to see a Specialist. A heart specialist. Do it as soon as possible! Have him also check for pneumonia. Please don't delay and allow your lungs to fill up last. If you're acidic and your oxygen levels drop too low due to poor lung function caused by edema, you could find yourself with a heart attack!

That is what happened to me!

Thank you for your response,

I do have a cough but not producing anything yet.  I do feel like i have the flu, bronchitis or pneumonia.  My body aches and i'm coughing all the time and wheezing.

How do you keep the water off without taking a diuretic.  I had been on a diuretic for about 2 years and now i off completely.

When i walk from my house to the mailbox, i start wheezing.

right now I am not on any diuretics.  the endo dr took me off all diuretics. and i am gaining the weight. i have gained 4 pounds in the last week.

Retaining water is usually due to heart failure.  Do you have a cough that may produce white or clear mucus?  When a person has CHF, the most important thing to do is to keep the water off and avoid salt which adds to the water retention.  Make sure to weigh yourself everyday to make sure that you are not putting on a pound a day.  A pound a day is too much water weight gain. Water pills and potassium pills if you are on the kind of water pill that depletes the potassium.  Low potassium levels are dangerous because your heart needs the potassium to beat.
