Hi,

Going through the neck for the kidney dialysis is absolutely normal. The central vein in the neck (jugular vein) is used for inserting the catheter and there’s absolutely no risk at all to the heart. The patients who are suffering from kidney failure are usually anemic(have low hemoglobin) and thus since the oxygen carring capacity of the blood is decreased. They need additional oxygen from outside. That’s the reason the doctor has told to send him on oxygen.

I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind Regards.

My mom is on dialysis and her port is in her chest, its not uncommon.  She is also on oxygen at home because she has copd and chf.  My mom is 54 and got approved for the oxgen.  If its prescribed by his doctor there's no reason they should deny it.
Good luck, hope everything works out.
