Hi,
The failure of the pumping ability of the ventricle is known as heart failure and can be due to several causes. The commonest cause is a poor blood supply to the ventricular muscle as a result of the coronary artery disease. However, a primary disease of the myocardium (heart muscle) called cardiomyopathy can be responsible for the same. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
