Hi,
The fluid in the lungs can be transitory or can be long lasting depending on the status of the functioning of the heart. When the heart is functioning well, the fluid usually doesn’t last long and is excreted in the urine. However, if the heart is poorly functioning, for e.g. in CHF, then the fluid can accumulate in the lungs and may not be excreted. The main job of the well functioning heart is to ensure that blood remains in the circulation and doesn’t ooze out. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
