Acne scarring

Anyone know of some type of cosmetic to get rid of pitting acne scars?

As a person with acne scars for greater than 25 years, I finally found something that works! I see a dermatologist who specializes in cosmetic dermatology. He and his esthetician prescribed the Obagi Nu-Derm System for me. This company has a website, too, so please check that out. What it consists of is a home-based regimen of the application of 5 different topicals twice daily. You will peel like crazy at first, then that levels off after a few weeks, but you can see the improvements rather quickly. They have supportive treatments such as TCA Obagi blue peel and the like to further enhance the program. If you have hyperpigmentation (dark patches) with your scarring, it takes care of that. Of course, as I have been told for many, many years, nothing really ever does completely get rid of acne scars, but I will tell you that from what I have experienced so far, I am already feeling more self-confident.

The cost of the twice-daily treatment was $286, but it lasts for about 5-6 months. Here's the other thing: If that sounds like a lot, just think about how much money you have spent on over the counter things, as I have! I was such a skeptic, but this was a treatment alternative for me, as I was turned down for CO2 laser because of hyperpigmentation risk. Also, if you have health insurance it sometimes covers the cost of the treatment of acne, so this may be covered at least partly by your insurance. The Obagi website has a list of providers for each area of the US. Incidentally, you can only get this through a physician, and so maybe once you are seen they can make further suggestions. Treatment varies obviously from patient to patient. I have pitting scars affecting greater than 50% of my face,if that helps you out any. Please consider it. I am so glad that I went ahead with it, because I was afraid I was going to be disappointed and I wasn't.
