Ancillary breast tissue.

Ancillary breast tissue.

I am pregnant and have noticed a huge increase in the size of the extra breast tissue I have under my right arm.  I have gotten some rashes in that area and have noticed two welt looking things that may be nipple tissue.  It is very painful, esp. when wearing a bra, as the strap digs into it.  I am wondering if this is something my insurance will cover.  I have always had it, but it has gotten huge in pregnancy.  In the past I have had to have a lump removed from my right breast and I am worried about more lumps in this extra bit of breast tissue.  Do insurance companies usually cover this?  Which doctor should I consult, a plastic surgeon or breast surgeon?  Most plastic surgeons seem hesitant to accept insurance.  Thanks.

Most plastic surgeons are very familiar with ancillary breast tissue.  In addition, they would be more sensitive to minimizing scar formation.  Seek a consultation after your delivery.
