Birthmark removal

I am 39 old male and have a birthmark on my left leg. My question is... would it be possible to have treatment to remove the birthmark I have, if so what type of treatment would be best and what sort of results could I expect. I would be interested in having the birthmark removed but am unsure what my next course of action should be. I have taken a photo of the birthmark and for you to view. The birthmark lightens when cooled and especially after going from a hot place to a cooler place. Any help would be appreciated. See photo below.

Your condition probably represents what is called nevus depigmentosis in which there is a lack of pigment cells in the affected area of your skin.  This is more a dermatologic than a plastic surgery issue and I would suggest you consult with a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.  I am unaware of any treatment for the problem.
