Breast Augmentation Revision

Hi Dr. Rosenberg,

Could you please let me know what are some of the risks of operating on tissues that are not completely healed and settled? I had my BA about 12 weeks ago, and have had some wound healing problem. I may need to go for surgery again if the problem persists. I have read it somewhere in this forum that there are risks when it comes to operating too soon or on swollen tissues - less than 3 months from the previous surgery... what are some of these risks? and what doctors normally do to try to prevent further complications when they do indeed need to perform surgery to correct the problem?

Many thanks for your opinions in advance.

Reoperation too soon after initial surgery can result in poor scar formation and possible capsule contracture.  The reason for this is increased blood supply to the tissues that have recently beed traumatized with surgery along with increased scar formation.  Unless it is an emergency, I would be patient and wait three to four months at least before undergoing additional surgery.
