Breast "Transplant"?

Breast "Transplant"?

Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question, if not pl. advise, where should I post (i have posted it on community cosmetics surgery also).

My girlfriend wants to get rid of her breasts (because of continuous pain) and I would not want them to go away just like that. I was considering having her breast transplanted on to me (I am a man), though a little ackward but I would be happy to share her pain. My question:

1. Is this something feasible and practical?

2. What are the side affects to both of us?

3. What would be the financial and other cost to it, including recovery period?

4. Is there a medical term for this procedure?

5. Where can I get this done (or who performs this procedure, specially around Seattle, WA, USA)?

6. Had similar transplants been done earlier/elsewhere and what is the success rate?

7. What would be a better solution: breast transplant between us or breast reduction for her and breast implants for me (not sure if I would want to get implants though).

Pl. advise.

Thanks,

Vis
PS: I am unable to find any details on the internet for such procedure. I gentleman did give me some info on the community page but wanted to get a medical professional take on this.

Your question demonstrates a high degree of naivety about surgery and transplants.  Transplants between humans (unless they are identical twins) requires lifelong anti-rejection medication and monitoring.  You will never find either a surgeon or an internist specializing in tissue transplantation that would perform or support this type of procedure.

For chronic breast pain, the treatment can vary from medication to surgery.  Large breast with significant pain can be reduced with some pain relieve.  Severe breast pain associated with precancerous conditions are controversially treated with subcutaneous mastectomy and reconstruction.

If you are a male (transgender, transvestite, or some form of cross dresser) then implants are your ticket.  I have performed this surgery in a number of very satisfied patients.
