Cosmetic surgery for Graves disease

Cosmetic surgery for Graves disease

After a full thyroidectomy in November 2007, I am still left with Graves.  Both eyes are affected and 'odd'.  I have been offered cosmetic surgery to 'correct' my bulging eyes.  This also will not get rid of the Graves which I have had for over 2 years.  My eyes are already extremely painful.  I am concerned that my eyes may change again after correction and/or be more painful than they already are.  Would you recommend this as an option?  Has anyone else had any success with cosmetic surgery for this condition?
Thank you

Treatment for correction of the exophthalmos (bulging eyes) for Graves disease can be accomplished by removing the excess fatty tissue about the eyes.  This should be a permanent solution for this problem.

It's  best to see a neuro-opthalmolgist for your eye problems due to Graves.

I have Graves eye disease also & my opthalmologist sent me to the neuro-opthmologist for evaluation & surgery.
If your eye disease is still active you don't want to do anything at this time anyway or you may end up with multiple surgeries.
