Craniofacial surgery

Hi Doctor,

I've recently decided to shave my head down in order to combat male pattern baldness to only realize that I have an abnormally shaped head. I am aiming to remedy this situation (to the extent that my head can have a more natural round look instead of odd protusions jutting about my head) through craniofacial plastic surgery. More specifically, I'm currently doing research on finding reputable and reliable craniofacial plastic surgeons to contact for possible consultations.

But the problem is that I am having a bit of trouble in discerning which surgeons are good/bad during my research process. There's a lot of information on the net and with modern advertising techniques, I'm worried that I may end up going to a sub-par surgeon who will sweet talk me into a rather regrettable procedure. I understand that the beneficial outcome of a cosmetic procedure tends to be heavily reliant on the skill of the surgeon, so I am attempting to find the best of the field to potentially perform this procedure. So could you help me with regard to finding the most reputable (and best) craniofacial plastic surgeons or point me in the right direction in pinpionting good surgeons?

I understand that I need to look into the background of individuals for educational, residency, malpractice, and certification information, but I'm just having trouble finding these individuals to do these checks on.

First, I would consult with a local craniofacial surgeon to see if what you desire can be actually achieved.  Other criteria would be to talk with other patients who have undergone similar procedures.  I would also check with other local primary care physicians to get their take on any particular surgeon you have in mind.  I do not give out names of specific surgeons in this forum.
