Dysport/Botox

Dysport/Botox

I had dysport injections for my forehead lines a little over 3 weeks ago and while the lines of my forehead have diminished, they are still very noticeable.

I had botox injections in the same area about 3 years ago and my forehead lines were totally gone.

The dermatologist who did the dysport injections told me that the dysport did work ( he said he could tell by having me raise my eyebrows - said the area was 'stiff' ) and that sometimes you just have persist wrinkles that won't go away.

i asked if I switch back to Botox and he said it wouldn't make a difference, that i'd still get the same effect. I'm having trouble accepting that advice.

Any ideas as to why all of sudden the injections don't work for me?

This is only my second treatment ever of a botulintoxin treatment.

Thanks in advance

Without a direct examination, it is difficult to advise you.  I do have a few comments.  If there is no muscle activity in the area of injection, then the Dysport has worked.  If there is any question of possible residual muscle activity, then sometimes I will (usually at no cost to my regular patients), add a touch more Dysport to insure that there is adequate coverage of the area.  However, sometimes the lines are so deep, that even with adequate injection, they will not disappear.  If you are convinced that the Dysport is not as effective as Botox, then wait until the Dysport effect has disappeared (four to five months) and re-treat with Botox to see if there is a difference.  Other issues involve the appropriate dilution of the Dysport and appropriate administration.  My patients and I have been please with the results of Dysport since I started using it over six months ago.  A few still insist that Botox works better.
