Facial pain 3 years postoperative craniofacial

My husband continues to have facial pain, "headaches",stiffness, and slight swelling 3 years postoperative craniofacial reconstructive surgery for trauma. Also notes is worse with cold temperatures, weather changes. He has titanium plating to repair orbital and cheekbone fractures. Is this to be expected at this time point or should I encourage him to follow up?
