Forehead Osteoma

I have an osteoma just below my hairline which was confirmed by ct scan. I am thinking of getting it removed. Is this a very involved procedure? Can it be done with local and sedation rather then general? How long is the recovery for this procedure, ie. will there be visible scars and would I have to wear a bandage for an extended period of time? Thank you.

A forehead osteoma can be removed through a direct incision over the bump, or there are some plastic surgeons that are now removing the osteoma endoscopically.  This means that an incision can be made in the hairline so there is no scar on your forehead.  This can be done with local and sedation.  Recovery time should be about 5-7 days and a bandage is usually worn for a few days following the procedure.  These are all good questions that you should ask the plastic surgeon who you consult with.  I have given you general answers, but the only way to know the best approach for you is to have a physical exam and consult with a local plastic surgeon.
