Hole at T Incision

Hole at T Incision

Dear Dr.,

I had my breast Reduction Surgery on July 26, 2010.  I had my first Post-op appointment on August 2nd.  The surgeon said everything looked great.  He informed me that I could start taking off the Steri-Strips as they begin to fall off in the shower.  This Monday evening I was preparing myself for a shower and noticed that one on the Steri-Strips on the lower breast incision was falling off, I removed the strip and realized that my breast had a little blood.  I cleaned it with a gauze pad and took a pictire to get a better look.  When I looked at the picture it looked like a cut where the scab fell off.  The skin looks raw and has some discharge.  I also am experiencing some pain.  I called my Surgeon and was told that it sounds like one of the absorable stitches is trying to make it to the surface.  He said that I should use Bacitracin 2x daily on the hole.

I just want to know if you would recommend anything else I should do or is this something I should just wait to see results.  I dont see the Surgeon again until the 25th of this month, should I wait or get an earlier appointment.

This area is very commonly experiences minor healing problems.  It may get somewhat larger and is often the result of tension along the confluence of incision lines.  If it gets worse or if you are distressed about the way it is healing, Iwould see you doctor before your scheduled appointment for instructions about care for the area.
