Jaw surgrey

I'm going to see a surgeon tomorrow, to begin the process of getting jaw surgery done due to misaligned jaws (under bite)  the molds and what not, I have had braces for a year and half and was told it would be anywhere from 2-6 months after surgery That I will get my braces completely off.  They said they would be breaking both the top and bottom part of the jaw because of the severity of my under bite, my question is how long from the time i have my first appointment will i be ready for surgery?

The planning for this procedure requires coordination between your orthodontist and the maxillofacial surgeon.  Orthodontia is aimed to align the teeth so they fit appropriately after the upper and lower jaws are fractured and reset.  This will determine when you are ready for the procedure.
