Lower Bleph

I need some advise on healing after eyelid surgery.  What causes the lower lid to become stiff?  Is this caused by scar tissue and if so will massaging it make it recover and shape normal?

If your surgery is relatively recent, then the scar tissue will mature and soften with time, and spontaneously eliminate the stiffness.  The distraction of your lower lid from the eyeball, may be a result of increased weight of the lower lid caused by early swelling, which should also resolve.  Sometimes it is a result of excess removal of skin.  I would work with your surgeon on these matters, but seek a second opinion if you feel your questions are not being answered.

In lower lid blepharoplasty, the skin is elevated off of the underlying muscle.  Scar tissue forms between them and can persist for several months following the procedure.  This usually results in stiffness of the tissue.  While you can massage this area, time is on your side and I am not convinced that massage will make much difference.

Time is on my side?  I dont understand.  Re the stiffness thank you I agree.  Stiffness I can live with but my eyes are two different shapes now.  And when I lower my head towards the floor and open my eyes looking towards the celing the lower lid is pulling away from my eyeball.  Do you think I should get a second opion in person with someone?  If so do you know of anyone in MI.
Thank you for all of your help
