Lower lip hardness and swelling after injury

Lower lip hardness and swelling after injury

6 weeks ago I fell striking my face on a tiled floor.  I broke some facial bones, my upper palate, broke out 7 teeth and had a complicated laceration to the lower lip and chin. The laceration to my lower lip was completely thru the skin.  23 stitches inside and out (this included stitches in the chin). My jaws are wired shut due to the palate fracture. Plates and screws were put above my upper palate to fixate the fracature.  My problem is the harded swollen area of my left lower lip.  I take my fingers and start on the right lower lip and feel my way across the lip and it is twice the thickness on the left side and is hard.  It is sttill somewhat numb and tingly and I am not able to suck thru a straw or hold it against a cup.  I am wondering if this type of swelling/hardness is normal after this many weeks. And if this is normal, what time frame does a person give something like this before considering plastic surgery.  And is plastic surgery an option to remove this hard lump of what feels like granuloma.  My smile is crooked and lumpy.  I will be having my jaws unwired in the next couple weeks and will then proceed with replacing the missing teeth. But my big concern right now is the thickness and hardening of my lower lip.  Also of note: my chin has a swollen hard area right above where the stitches were also.  Thanks for any answers you can give me.
