Nerve Damage after Chin Implant

Nerve Damage after Chin Implant

I had a chin implant inserted through my mouth several years ago by an oral surgeon.  Since then, my chin has been numb, I still have feeling in it, but it just feels weird, sort of "dead like after Novocain at the dentist".  Also, since the surgery, my mouth always "falls open".  It's like I can't keep my lips together anymore without trying really hard.  I am also not happy about the size of the implant that was used.  It seems too big for my profile which is ugly now with a "bulbous" chin.  I am wondering after all these years, if I could remove this old implant and have it replaced with a new one that might be more suitable for my face.  Also, could the nerve damage be repaired, or will it always feel like it does now?  It is so embarrassing for me to have my mouth open all the time.  Thanks for your reply.

Replacement of the chin implant is readily accomplished.  Do not expect the sensory nerve loss to be able to be improved with any additional surgery.
